Why is a narcissist so terrified of the social norms, despite seeming to 'embrace' them?
After all they go to big trouble to portray a very "normal" lifestyle. They hide behind a falsehood to throw everyone off as to who they really are. (church going, community minded, good parent, etc.)

Marriage to them is a convenient way to conceal their true ambitions, that being to feed their need for their self sanctification. They feel they need to conquer this in every aspect of their life.

Though they have a heightened superiority complex, it is the truth alone that shows how controlled they really are by inferiority.

People have to serve a purpose to them in order for them to be of any interest to the narcissist.  People, to a narcissist, are merely "supply."

Once a person starts standing up to them and starts seeing the truth behind the lies, the narcissist will have no use for them anymore. In other words (just don't speak unless I want to hear it)

They don't even really care to hear what you have to say. (You're an object remember)
Keep it simple or forget it.

Example: If you try to bring up anything of concern (such as getting a straight answer), they will always divert the conversation to something else or do something to make you uncomfortable so you drop it.

Once you have really annoyed them they will cut into you with comments against your very character. Narcissistic Rage is a common response to the truth for them.  They will do whatever it takes to silence you.  WHATEVER IT TAKES.
